With the Skyscan Atomic Clock, you have the most accurate timepiece within the continent. It receives the time signal transmitted by the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST), which is regulated by 3 atomic clocks and
deviates less than 1 second within 3,000 years. The NIST broadcasts the time
signal (WWVB, 60kHz) continuously from Fort Collins, Colorado. This signal can
be received anywhere in the continental USA that long wave (AM) radio reception

For more information, please study the WWVB WEB page of NIST at:
http://www.bouIder.nist.gov/timefreq/

ENVIRONMENTAL RECEPTION EFFECTS:
The Atomic Clock obtains the accurate time with wireless technology. Same as all wireless devices, the receiving ability may be affected by, but not limited to, to the following circumstances:
• Long transmitting distance.
• Inside concrete buildings.
• Nearby mountains and valleys.
• Near electrical appliances.
• Among tall buildings.
• Near computers and televisions.
• Near railway, high voltage cable, etc.
• Bad weather locally or electrical storms between you and Colorado.
• Near freeway, airport, etc.
• Inside moving vehicles.
• Near construction site.
• Nearby metallic structures.

LOCATION PRECAUTIONS:
This clock receives a radio wave much like a TV or radio. Be sure to locate it near a window or some other location where reception is good. Avoid the following location, which can interfere with proper reception.

1. Synchronization signal reception can be received in Continental USA only. In other areas,
you can still use this clock by making time settings manually.
2. Place your clock at a location with optimal signal, i.e.: close to a window away from metal
surfaces or electrical appliances.
3. If the clock does not catch the signal in the first 20 minutes, then set the clock manually.
The clock will adjust itself to the exact time within 48 hours.

TO START THE CLOCK:

1. Insert 2 AA batteries with proper polarity (+) and (-) as indicated in the battery compartment.
2. The LCD goes to default time and calendar 12:00:00AM (time) and 1-1 (Jan 1,2003).
The alarm time is 6:00 AM.
Default time zone is PST, default temp. readout is degree F.
3. The clock takes the temperature reading immediately then starts to search for the WWVB signal.
Remarks: If you immediately manually set the time I alarm time I calendar the clock will stop its Initial reception of the WWVB signal. It will resume to the WWVB reception automatically when the clock exits SET mode and no other button is pressed for5 seconds.

TO SELECT THE TIME ZONE:

1. Press TIMEZONE button once, the LCD shows the time zone (the default time zone Is PST).
2. Press + or - to set the time zone (PST>MST>CST>EST)
3. Press the TIME ZONE or SET button to go back to the time display or it will automatically go back to the time display in 5 seconds.

TO SET TIME, CALENDAR, 12/24HR AND C/F:

1. Press the SET button once to set the Year: digits show "2005" and blink. Press + or - to set the year.
2. Press the SET button again to set the Date: small digits show "1 – 1” ( i.e. Jan 1st) and blink.
Press + or - to set the date. Press and hold + or - will increase the increment or decrement at a faster rate.
3. Press the SET button again to set the Time: large digits in HR : MIN will show and blink.
Press + or - to set the clock to the current time. Press and hold + or - will increase increment or decrement at a faster rate.
4. Press the SET button again to set 12/24 HR readout. Upper LCD shows "12Hr" and blink.
Press + or - to choose 12HR or 24 HR time display format.
5. Press the SET button again to select C/F readout: the temperature readout (i.e. 68F) will blink.
Press + or - to choose readout (i.e. 68F or 20C). The default readout is in degree F.
6. Press the SET button again to exit the setting mode and return to the normal display. Or it will
automatically return in 5 seconds.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME:

AIways slide the DST switch to ON position except when the clock is used in an area without Daylight Saving Time.
**Special attention to usage in Arizona and Indiana.**
Arizona and parts of Indiana do not recognize Daylight Saving Time (DST).
Please adjust the Time Zone manually to display the proper hour if the clock is used in these areas.

TO SET ALARM TIME:

1. To read your alarm time: press + or - once, the lower Month and Date digits will change to alarm time digits.
2. To set the alarm time: press + or - again, the alarm digits will blink. Press + or - to set your alarm time.
Press and hold + or - will increase the increment or decrement at a faster rate.

3. The atomic reception tower icon will keep blinking when the clock is receiving the signal.
4. The static atomic reception tower indicator indicates successful reception.
5. The signal is at its maximum strength from 12:00am to 3:00 am and minimal radio interference.
In most cases, the clock will not receive and update its time until this time.

Set the Clock Manually:

If the clock does net catch the signal in the first 20 minutes, then set the clock manually.
The clock will adjust itself to the exact time within 48 hours.

Automatic time update

RESET THE UNIT (TROUBLESHOOTING):

Press the RESET button when the clock is displaying irrelevant time even when the tower icon shows on the LCD. This may happen when the external radio signal noise is severe enough to interfere with the time signal.

CARE OF YOUR CLOCK:
